Hey Folks, Since I can't make it to the meeting, and I did read up on stuff, I thought I'd post some comments that can either be discussed tonight or ignored.
RE: Facilitator - I can only think of two reasons to have an outside facilitator - 1. to keep us focused on the tasks at hand and not drift into conversations that are not relevant at the moment, and 2. to keep the process clear of special interests and agendas. Being the naive optimist that I am, I think we could do that on our own. RE: The Process at this point - After reading the info on Strategic Planning and the other article I found, I came away thinking we had two things to start with. 1. Who are the "customers" of ORCSD? Are we looking to please the students, the parents, the community? I think each of these would push the plan (and our process) in a different direction and we should be clear on that. 2. We should focus on gathering information first to determine the present situation - right? RE: Random impressions - In thinking about having a strategic plan, I am reminded of the way Marcia used to make decisions - no matter what the issue or question at hand, it always started and ended with "what is best for kids". It's a simple test to see if you are following the mission/vision and I think our outcome should be able to come down to something that simple. OK - I'm done. Enjoy the meeting!! |
